Church said to be on the site of a chapel founded by St Aidan c.647. Rebuilt 1810 -11 in two tiers, the lower ones tall, the upper ones small 'clearstory', all with semi-circular hoods. Notable organ by T C Lewis, case by J F Bentley.


Opening Arrangements

Mondays and Saturdays 10.00am - 3.00pm. At other times by arrangement. Key holder details displayed on noticeboard.


A194 from A1 to South Shields. Church is in centre of Market Place. Rail: South Shields Metro 500 metres. Main line: Newcastle Central (12 miles). Bus: Any town centre bus route.
