Earliest reference c1235. Old church replaced c1500 and 1846. Only separate bell tower remains of c1500 church. Internally - Norman font, Royal Arms of George I, memorials to Bassets (mining) and Collins (clerics). Externally - large churchyard, graves of Thomas Merritt, (composer) and airmen of World War II. Churchyard records available.
