St James Church, Thornton Road

St James Church, Thornton Road, Bradford BD13 3AB View on map

The church was built in 1871 to the design of TH Healy. It contains a number of architects from the Bell Chapel where Patrick Bronte preached. These include the font in which all the Bronte children would be baptised. The most notable feature is the east window to a William Morris design.


Opening Arrangements

Church and coffee shop open 10am - 2pm Tuesday to Saturday from April 1 to October 29. Heritage weekend September 8 to 11 10am to 4pm. Christmas Tree Festival between December 3 and December 10 from 11am to 7pm


On the B6145 about 3 1/2 miles west of Bradford. Rail: Bradford Interchange. Bus: 607 and 697 (from Bradford).
