St James the Great, Allan Street

St James the Great, Allan Street, Darlington DL1 2LT View on map

Built in 1876 to serve the industrial parish of Albert Hill, consists of large nave with two side chapels and apse to east end. The interior contains some good stained glass recently restored and wall paintings by Hemmings.


Opening Arrangements

1 January - 31 December: Monday 5.30pm - 7.30pm (service 6.45pm - 7.15pm), Wednesday 9am - 12.30pm (service 9.30am - 10am), Sundays 9am-12.30pm (service 10am-11am). Also open once a month on a Friday 5.30pm-7pm. Also by specific arrangement following a request.


One mile NE of town centre along Haughton Road. Rail: Darlington Bank Top (1 mile), Darlington North Road (1 mile). Bus: No's 9, 10 and 14 from town centre.
