St James the Great, Church Road

St James the Great, Church Road, Snitterfield, Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire CV37 0LJ View on map

Built in stages from the end of C13. The chancel has original priest's door and the double piscina. Pillars in south aisle (different from the north) are rare c14. Font has unusual carved heads. Three stages of tower construction in C14 shown by changes in masonry.

Directions

Leave M40 at junction 15, following A46 to Stratford. At next roundabout, take right turn, remaining on A46 leading to Snitterfield. Turn right and immediate right down Park Lane. Turn left at junction. Rail: Stratford-upon-Avon (5 miles). Bus: 229 from Bridge Street or Wood Street in Stratford. From bus stop in Snitterfield to church approximately half mile walk.
