St John, Hodge Lane, Marchington Woodlands, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire ST14 8PE View on map

By A. D. Gough of London, built 1858-9. In style of late 13th century. Columns and flying buttresses on top of the broaches to spire. Simple nave, foliated capitals and pendants of the corbel shafts. Attractive East window. Chancel with tripartite diapered arcading.


Opening Arrangements

First Monday and third Sunday each month; 10:30am - 4:30pm. Second Saturday in March, June, September and December: 10:30am - 4:30pm.


From Uttoxeter take the B5017 towards Marchington. Turn right into Hodge Lane. Church is at top of hill. Rail: Uttoxeter (3 miles). Bus: Infrequent service from Uttoxeter and lengthy walk from bus stop.
