St John the Baptist, Kings Caple

St John the Baptist, Kings Caple, Herefordshire HR1 4TX View on map

Grade I listed church set on a hill adjacent to a Norman motte, overlooking the Wye valley. Built in local red sandstone it dates from the 13th century with later spire, porch and lady chapel. Notable and rare early 17th century pulpit and pews.


Opening Arrangements

Open daily 10am - 4pm except for Christmas Day and on days where the church is closed due to bad weather.


From A49 (Hereford to Ross) follow signs to Kings Caple. The church is signposted in the village. Rail: Hereford (9 miles). Bus: 1 mile walk from Hoarwirthy (Hereford to Ross service no 37).
