St John the Baptist, Upton Bishop, Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire HR9 7UL View on map

Grade I listed 12th and 14th century parish church built of local stone with a Saxon doorway. Restoration of 1862 and south vestry added in 1880. Fragment of sculptural relief said to be from a Roman tombstone incorporated in to the south wall of chancel. Hymn writer Frances Havergal visited while her brother was the incumbent.

M50 junction 4, B4221 to Crow Hill. At 'the Moody Cow' pub follow signs to Kempley and Dymock. Church is signposted ½ mile from The Crews crossroads. Rail: Hereford (15 miles), Gloucester (approximately 17 miles). Bus: No 32 (Gloucester to Ross-on-Wye) stops at Upton Bishop Cross approximately 1 mile from the church.
