St John the Evangelist, Shakespeare Street and St Johns Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham B11 4RG View on map

Constructed in 1888, the church sits exactly at the top of the hill known as Sparkhill. Grade II Listed. Designed by Martin and Chamberlain. The architectural style of the exterior is a Victorian version of early English Gothic but with 19th century engineering advances. Displays no further similarities to the Medieval in its interior arrangements.


Opening Arrangements

Open every week day, 9:15am-5pm. Please use the side door on St John's Road. Sundays, 9:15am-1pm.


Approximately 1 mile west of Anslow village. From B5017 turn right into Hopley Road and left into Hanbury Road. Rail: Burton-on-Trent (5 miles).
