St John the Evangelist, Shakespeare Street/St Johns Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham B11 4RG View on map

Constructed in 1888, the church sits exactly at the top of the hill known as Sparkhill. Grade II Listed. Designed by Martin and Chamberlain. The architectural style of the exterior is a Victorian version of early English Gothic but with 19th century engineering advances. Displays no further similarities to the Medieval in its interior arrangements.


Opening Arrangements

Monday - Friday, 9:15am - 4pm via St John's Road entrance. Closed Bank Holidays and Saturdays.


Located at the junction of St John's Road with Shakespeare Street and Stratford Road in Sparkhill. Bus: No 6, 5, 31 and 2 from the city centre. Ask for Baker Street stop near the shop 'Mighty Q'. Rail: Birmingham New Street Station (2 miles)
