Norman church with tower and discernible later additions. Survival of Norman decoration including 2 tympana, and 14th century architectural and liturgical features including sedilia and piscina. Riche period timber decoration. One stone window lintel believed to be recycled Roman.

Outside village 1 mile from A66 at junction with road between Appleby and Long Marton. Appleby railway station 3 miles.
