St Mary, Atherington

It is estimated that the church was built between 1202 and 1272, and it is endowed with a number of artefacts including tombs. The most outstanding artefact is the oak screen and rood loft, the only one in Devon.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 10am - 4pm.


Centre of the village on the B3227. Rail: Umberleigh (approx. 2 miles) Bus: Infrequent service (Barnstaple to Chumleigh) Route 325. Does not equate with church opening hours.
