St Mary, Church End

St Mary, Church End, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire WR8 0BL View on map

Grade II* listed parish church. Partly 12th century with additions in 14th and 15th centuries and chapel rebuilt in 1674. Restored in 1858 by Street. Interior contains notable stained glass and memorial tablets to Mrs Winifred Lechmere and Revd A Lechmere. Interesting tombs in graveyard.

B4102 on main Birmingham Road. Church Lane is a single track road to the south of this road, up a steep hill. The church is close to a local foot path known as 'Heart of England Way'. Rail: Hampton-in-Arden (3 miles), Berkswell (4½ miles), Tile Hill Coventry (6 miles). Bus: Routes 19W, 19 X (from Solihull), 900 from Birmingham International airport) and 232 (from Coleshill).
