St Mary, Highland Place, Fownhope, Herefordshire HR1 4PJ View on map

Mainly 16th century with parts dating to Norman times, especially the tympanum. It is the longest church in the diocese with two chancel areas. The chancel contains many monuments commemorating members of Lechmere family, formerly of Fownhope Court. The churchyard contains several ornate graves and wooden stocks.

Open daily: from 9am to dusk (winter) or 6pm (summer)


At south end of village on B4224. Rail: Hereford (6½ miles). Bus: routes 456 and 457 (from Hereford).
