St Mary, Mundon

St Mary, Mundon, Essex CM9 6PA View on map

Listed Grade I church, now redundant and owned by the Friends of Friendless Churches since 1975. Two-tier timber-framed weatherboarded tower of the 16th century and roughly contemporary north porch. The nave is partly 14th century and retains a complete set of 18th century box pews. The chancel is also Georgian but with simple 19th century fittings. Naïve Baroque trompe l'oeil painting of murals on the east wall recently conserved.
