St Michael and All Angels, Blithbury Road, Hamstall Ridware, Rugeley, Staffordshire WS15 3RR View on map

Grade I listed parish church mostly 14th - 15th century but originating from 1120 AD. A single shallow roof covers nave, choir and sanctuary and the clerestory runs the length of the church. Notable features are tower and spire to west end, stained glass east window and medieval panels in the reredos. Rev Edward Cooper, cousin to Jane Austen served here.

Weekends and some Fridays. At other times by arrangement (details on a board on the church door)


From Lichfield take A50 then A575 through Kings Bromley towards Yoxall. After bridge turn left at island up a narrow road to T junction at Morrey. Turn left and continue into Hamstall village. Turn right at the village green (after river bridge and village pub). Church access is 300m on right and across a field track to the car park which protects cars from the grazing sheep. Rail: Rugeley Trent Valley (5 miles), Lichfield Trent Valley or City (12 miles).
