St Oswald's Parish Church (Grade II*) built next to Brereton Hall, around 1500, in late perpendicular style, is unusually complete with no major changes or additions. There are six bells, a pre-reformation altar slab (with five crosses) and an 18th century altar rail (called 'almost unique' by Sir Gilbert Scott)

Directions by road: from M6, exit Junction 18 and drive in Holmes Chapel, take A50 south (towards Kidsgrove) to Brereton Green. Turn left by Bears head pub into village. After 100 yards turn left through archway into a lane, continue for 250 yards bearing right, and continue for further 250 yards, church is on your left. Holmes Chapel railway station 2 miles, Bus no 319 Sandbach/Brereton/Holmes Chapel (see Cheshire East website for times)
