Built 1880-1, by Paley and Austin. Brick construction with vaulted ceiling under tower. Described by Pevsner as: one of the most thrilling churches in Lancashire. Tower rises behind a shallow glassed churchyard the height emphasised by the adjoining nave and chancel, which are aisle-less on the south side.

Monday 6pm - 7pm. Sunday 11am - 12 noon. 5 May to 29 May, Saturday 10am - 1pm.


West of Leigh, turn off A579 Atherleigh Way onto A578 Twist Lane. Rail: Atherton (4 miles), Wigan (6 miles). Bus: route 593 (Leigh - Wigan).
