St Peters is part medieval with a 16th C tower (with 6 bells), cruciform in shape and built of coursed limestone. It has some fine stained glass including some designed by Burne Jones. The churchyard is calm and peaceful with a conservation plan.


Opening Arrangements

1. Open for normal Sunday services 2. Open in summer from May- September for half of the day afterwards.20 x half days 3. Open for the day of special events and social occasions (5 days annually) 4. Open on Saturdays before major festivals- Easter and Christmas, harvest and Mothering Sunday- 4 days. 5. On request by bell ringing groups – 4/5 days a year 6. On request of key from local pub.


In Mill Lane in Alvescot on the B4020 Carterton top Faringdon road; 2 miles from Carterton. Rail: Oxford, Swindon or Didcot, all approx 20 miles. Bus: irregular 19 circular route from Witney. Also from Oxford or Swindon to Carterton.
