St Peters is part medieval with a 16th C tower (with 6 bells), cruciform in shape and built of coursed limestone. It has some fine stained glass including some designed by Burne Jones. The churchyard is calm and peaceful with a conservation plan.


Opening Arrangements

Open on Sundays April to September inclusive, open Saturdays and special event days (5) as advertised. Key also available in the village at other times.


In Mill Lane in Alvescot on the B4020 Carterton top Faringdon road; 2 miles from Carterton. Rail: Oxford, Swindon or Didcot, all approx. 20 miles. Bus: irregular 19 circular route from Witney. Also from Oxford or Swindon to Carterton.
