An ornate and complete municipal swimming pool complex built 1903 - 1906, which has 3 pools, Turkish and Russian Bath suite, Aeratone and extensive stained glass and tile work. The baths were closed in 1993. Restoration Phase 1 comprising external and structural restoration to front of building has taken place. Phase I plus comprised restoration of the Gala Pool roof. Now open as a visitor attraction, events, arts and community venue with plans for further restoration work.


Opening Arrangements

6 April - 2 November: every Wednesday afternoon for guided tours at 2pm; April - August and October - November: first Sunday in each month 11 - 4pm. Additional opening days include Heritage Open Days in September. At other times by prior arrangement with the Manchester Victoria Baths Trust 0161 224 2020,

Admission Charges

  • Adult: £3.00/£4.00 (Open days), £5.00/£6.00 (Wednesday tours)
  • Child: Free
  • Other Charges: Group tours (from £5.00) Free admission for Friends of Victoria Baths.


1½ miles from city centre via A34. Rail: Manchester Piccadilly or Manchester Oxford Road. Bus: routes 50, 191, 197 or any service stopping in Oxford Road which will require a ½ mile walk.
