Museum and archive located in grade II and grade II* listed former colliery buildings. Range of permanent exhibitions exploring the mining heritage and offering a temporary exhibition programme celebrating art and heritage from inside and outside the region. Home to the Northumberland County archive. The whole complex is located within a country park reclaimed from a huge spoil heap in the 1970's


Opening Arrangements

Wednesday-Sunday (plus Bank Holiday Mondays and Mondays and Tuesdays in Northumberland school holidays)- October-March 10am-4pm; April-September 10am-5pm

Admission Charges

  • Adult: £7.00 annual pass (£6.50 for multiple adult tickets purchased at the same time)
  • Child: 0-16: free
  • Other Charges: Concessions- £6.00 annual pass


Just off A189 in south east Northumberland (coastal route). Rail: Morpeth (10 miles west).
