Enhanced Advisory Services
Speed up projects and reduce risk with our four new paid-for services
Historic England offers four new services providing enhancements to our existing free planning and listing services.
Fast-track Listing: listing recommendations sent to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in a quicker and guaranteed timeframe
Listing Enhancement: greater clarity over the extent of statutory protection in a guaranteed timeframe
Extended Pre-Application Advice: additional pre-application advice beyond our initial free service
Listing Screening Service: assessment of the likelihood of any heritage assets with the degree of interest that would warrant statutory Listing
These pages provide more information on each of the four services, as well as details on how to request one of the services and their prices.
Prior to these services launching in October 2015, we conducted a consultation on our proposals for these services in Spring 2015. Further information is available below.
To get clarity sooner over whether a building should be listed or not, this paid-for service fast-tracks our part in the listing process.
An enhanced list description will set out more clearly what is of special interest about a particular building.
Pre-application advice reduces the risk of an application for consent being refused by the decision-making body.
Reduce uncertainty early in the development process. Find out whether an area of land contains structures that could merit consideration for listing.
As a public body we aim to cover the costs of these services. For each service we will assess your case and provide a cost estimate.
The Enhanced Advisory Services will offer greater speed, clarity and engagement from Historic England.
