Terms and Conditions - Irreplaceable: The History of England in 100 Places ('The Survey')

  1. This Survey is open to all, but entrants under the age of 16 must have permission from their parent or guardian. 
  2. Multiple nominations are allowed.
  3. The Survey is free to participate in and no purchase is necessary.
  4. There are ten categories available in which to submit nominations:
    1. Science & Discovery
    2. Travel & Tourism
    3. Homes & Gardens
    4. Sport
    5. Music & Literature
    6. Loss & Destruction
    7. Faith & Belief
    8. Industry, Trade & Commerce
    9. Art, Architecture & Sculpture
    10. Power, Protest & Progress
  5. All nominations must adhere to the criteria for nominations
  6. Nominations submitted in each of the categories may be shortlisted and judged by a selected representative who will choose a winning place in each category. The closing date for each category will be detailed on the Historic England website (link)
  7. The decision of Historic England is final and no communication will be entered into by Historic England.
  8. Copyright in each nomination remains with the respective nominators. However, in consideration of Historic England providing the Survey, each nominator agrees:
    1. to grant Historic England and partner(s) a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use, copy, distribute, publish, republish, store, archive, syndicate, sub-license, transmit, adapt, edit, create derivative works from, perform, exercise publicity and copyright rights in relation to the nomination materials, including photographs submitted, in any manner and in any format and/or media;
    2. to waive any moral rights in the material submitted;
    3. that Historic England may disclose your identity to any third party making any claim, enquiry or assertion of any kind in relation to your material.
  9. By submitting your nomination to Historic England, you warrant that:
    1. the nomination material is your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other relevant rights;
    2. the nomination material is not obscene, untrue, threatening, menacing, offensive, defamatory, abusive, in breach of confidence, in breach of any intellectual property right (including, without limitation, copyright) or otherwise in breach of or violating any applicable law or regulation or code; and
    3. you shall indemnify Historic England and keep us fully indemnified against any third party liabilities, claims, costs, loss or damage we incur as a result of publishing material you submit to us, including consequential losses.
  10. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the English Courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute which may arise.
  11. Participation in the Survey signifies acceptance of these rules. Historic England also reserves the right at its discretion to amend the Survey rules at any time.
  12. Any nomination which is illegible or unintelligible may be disqualified at the sole discretion of Historic England.
