Traction engine

This traction engine by Fowell & Co of St Ives was made in 1914. It was used for farm work and operated by J Rundle, Contractor, of New Bolingbroke, Lincolnshire. Such engines had many uses, including threshing, hauling, and timber sawing. They were superseded by the widespread use of tractors in the 1940s.
