1. 972 BAFFINS LANE (East Side) ------------- The southern half of The Former Corn Exchange now occupied by John Wiley & Sons (Formerly listed as Corn Exchange) SU 8604 NW 4/109A

II 5.7.50.

2. Early C19. 3 storeys. 15 bays. Southern part has been refurbished and converted into offices. Alternate bands of red brick and grey headers throughout; red brick voussoirs to windows or blocked openings. Roof juts out over 4th, 7th, 10th and 13th bays from north, formerly here accommodating sack hoists. Formerly in these bays and still in unconverted part, wooden boarded doors on all floors. Unconverted part in the north of 5 bays. On 1st and 2nd floors, in all bays.except the 4th, small windows or blocked openings in reveals in segmental arches. On ground floor, some round-headed openings, containing a window or blocked openings, string- course at impost level. In southern converted part, tiled hipped roof. On 1st and 2nd floors in 7th, l0th and 13th bays, modern windows in segmental arches to width of former openings here. In other bays, original openings widened to accommodate modern 3 light windows in segmental arches. On ground floor, round-headed windows similar to original and all containing windows, except for bay containing doorway; fine panelled door with semi- circular fanlight over.
