Berwick Barracks, Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland
In 1717, the Board of Ordnance ordered the construction of a barracks in Berwick. They were built between 1719 and 1721. They were designed to accommodate 600 men and 36 officers. They are said to be the earliest barracks built in Britain. This is a reconstruction of how it looked inside barrack room 1757. This property is now in the care of English Heritage (2010).
