Dovecote, Downham Hall Farm, South Hanningfield, Essex

A mid 18th-century octagonal dovecote, of red brick with a tiled roof, surrmounted by an open semi-circular arched cupola with a bell-shaped dome. Pigeons were used as a food source in Medieval and Early Modern England.
