Drinking Fountain, Shildon, Durham

This public drinking fountain dates from 1914 and stands in the Recreation Ground. It was designed by Hill and Smith Ltd. of Brierley Hill, Staffordshire. The designs on the roundels include a railway locomotive designed by Timothy Hackworth. One roundel is inscribed: PRESENTED TO THE INHABITANTS OF SHILDON BY THE MEMBERS OF THE OLD SHILDON WORKMEN'S CLUB. NOVEMBER 1914.
