Former Board School, St George's Road, Kingston Upon Hull

St George's Board School dates from 1881 and was designed by William Freeman for the Newington School Board. The school was taken over by Hull School Board in 1883/4 and 2 more classrooms were added. It was built from brick with ashlar dressings and has hipped slate roofs with small gabled ventilators in a Gothic style. By October 1882 there were over 200 boys at the school plus girls and infants. There were originally places for 607 children and for 667 after 1884.
