Harvesting near Lower Cadsden, Buckinghamshire

A group of farm labourers pause to be photographed during the harvest. Note the curved stick - a simple safety device used in one hand to hook a stook of corn which is cut with a sickle in the other. The well dressed lady and gentleman on the left may be the farmer and his wife.
