Merchant Taylors' Almshouses, Broadmead, Merchant Street, Bristol

The Almshouse are dated 1701. Above the door is a large, painted panel bearing the arms of the Merchant Taylor's Guild, and next to it the inscription ANNODM/1701. It is one of Bristol's earliest brick buildings. It was built by the Guild for the accommodation of 9 people. Each side of the building had 3 dwellings. It is no longer an almshouse and has been used as a bank and as a restaurant.
