Monument to John Beaver, Uppingham, Rutland
This monument is inscribed "Here lies John Beaver that honest man which stood up for the Common of Uppingham Died November the 11 1682". John Beaver was Overseer to the Poor and to the Highways. He opposed attempts to encroach upon the people's common land.
