Pumping Station at The Old Water Works, Iford Lane, Bournemouth
The pumping station and superintendent's house at The Old Water Works were built around 1875. They were lived in between 1900 and 1913 by Russian refugees led by Count Vladimir Tchertkoff. He set up the Free Age Press here on which many of Tolstoy's later books (banned in Russia) were first printed.
