The engine house, GWR Works, Swindon, Swindon

This lithograph of 1846 by J C Bourne shows a 'Firefly'-class locomotive in the engine house at Swindon. It was 290 feet long by 140 feet wide with a central traverser, and was capable of holding 36 engines.
