Church of St Mary, Ickworth Park, Suffolk IP29 5QE

Grade II* church, located within the Grade II registered park at Ickworth, former home of the Hervey family. Ickworth house and much of its surrounding parkland is owned and managed by the National Trust. The Hervey family retain the church. Prior to the remodelling of the landscape carried out in the 18th century by Capability Brown, the church served the parish of Ickworth. As a result of the re-modelling, parish activities were formally moved to Horringer and Westley, which remains the case today. The restoration of the medieval church was in the early English style, probably commissioned by Frederick George Hervey, Bishop of Derry and 4th Earl of Bristol circa1778, although it is not clear whether the work was completed in his lifetime.

Open daily: 15th March to 1st November: 10am to 5pm. 2nd November to 14th March: 11am to 3pm.
