This Grade II*-listed, Regency-style house and garden was home to the Victorian writer Elizabeth Gaskell from 1850-1865. It now presents a hands-on experience that will introduce you to the world of the writer Elizabeth Gaskell and her family through historic period rooms, a Victorian-style garden, expert guides, and changing exhibitions.
Opening Arrangements
Open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 11am to 4.30pm, and other days for pre-booked private tours, school groups, weddings and events. Closed only for two weeks over Christmas.
