The mid-19th-century booking hall and stair tower at the railway station is Grade II listed. It features a rock-faced stone ground floor, a hipped slate roof, and a 3-storey tower for passenger access. The symmetrical 3-bay facade includes Tuscan pilasters, segmental and stilted arched windows, and cast-iron columns supporting a wooden canopy. The building is a prominent town landmark.

Opening Arrangements

It is anticipated occupation and sub-lease will occur in January 2025. The building will be open once a month on Saturdays. The building will also be open in the Autumn Heritage Open Days. If the lease is not in place by the New Yar there will be five open days (dates TBC, 10am-4pm) and the building can be visited by appointment to the station partnership (3 days' notice to be given).
