West Mural Tower, Auckland Castle

West Mural Tower, Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland DL14 7NR

The Grade-I listed West Mural Tower contains the remains of Auckland Castle's West precinct wall, running from north to south. It is a simple two-storey structure with a small, roughly square yard to its south side. The east wall of the yard contains a blocked gateway flanked by tall piers with ball finials. West Mural Tower was fully restored in 2018 and is presented to show the construction and design of this fascinating and ancient building.
