Church of St John the Evangelist, Leeds Road - Leeds
Landmark church of 1829 in the Early English style designed by Rickman and Hutchinson. The soaring spire was intended to be a feature in the Repton landscape of Oulton Hall. Damage to nave and chancel roofs has caused extensive internal deterioration of historic fabric and finishes. Aisle roofs also in poor condition. A first phase of work to repair high-level roofs was completed in 2017 with funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund's former Grants for Places of Worship scheme. Further phases of repair are required to return the church to good condition.
