Church of St John the Evangelist, Leeds Road - Leeds

Dating to 1829 this landmark church with its soaring spire was designed by Rickman and Hutchinson in the Early English style. Damage to nave and chancel roofs caused extensive internal damage to historic fabric and finishes. Aisle roofs also in poor condition. A first phase of work to repair high-level roofs was completed in 2017 with funding from Heritage Lottery Fund's Grants for Places of Worship scheme. Further phases of repair are required to return the church to good condition. An unsuccessful application to Heritage Lottery Fund's Grants for Places of Worship scheme was made in 2017.
