Church of St Saviours, Middle Park Avenue, Eltham SE9 - Greenwich
This vast church of purple brick and shallow concrete roofs was built in 1932 to the designs of Cachemaille-Day and is largely unaltered since then. The RIBA gold medal was awarded for the design in 1933. The vicarage was built in 1960. The church has always suffered from having internal rainwater pipes and from poor access for high-level maintenance. Roof coverings were repaired in late C20 but are now in need of renewal. Windows to the Lady Chapel are decayed and high-level plasterwork partially removed. The church is seeking funding for emergency repairs and health and safety works.
