Hewell Grange, Tutnall and Cobley - Bromsgrove
Grand red sandstone former country house designed by architects Bodley & Garner in 1884-91 for Lord and Lady Windsor, later the Earl and Countess of Plymouth. Celebrated as one of the most important late 19th century country houses in England, with an accomplished blend of architectural styles. From 1946 the house was used by HM Prison Service as a borstal, and latterly as an open prison to HMP Hewell until its closure in autumn 2020. The site was placed on the market in early 2022. Historic England are working closely with the Ministry of Justice to secure its sustainable future use.
