Church of St Helen, Abbotsham - Torridge

Anglican parish church. Cruciform plan with early C13 nave and chancel; tower of c.1300 to north east and early C14 south chapel. Restored 1870. Coursed slatestone rubble with ashlar dressings; gabled slate roofs with C19 copings and kneelers. C15 waggon roofs, plastered walls. Pointed chamfered arches to transepts. Beautifully-carved reredos, and other good interior fittings. Water penetration through parapets and historic fractures to south tower wall causing rot to embedded timbers, fracturing and failure of masonry bonding to south transept gable end. Some work done since 2015.
