Church of English Martyrs, Alexandra Road South, Whalley Range - Manchester

Church of 1895-6 in the Early English style. Designed by FH Oldham it is mainly rock faced sanstone with dressed stone spire and upper tower and window details. Nave with north west tower, north and south aisles and a twin gabled wing extending beyond the sanctuary with chapels in gabled transepts to either side. Despite a fairly recent reroof to the south side, there is extensive water penetration through the slate roof and issues have been noted with the leadwork and rainwater goods. The leaks are damaging the interior decoration and concerns have been raised about impact on structure
