Goods Shed at North Road Station, Darlington - Darlington (UA)

Built in 1833, the goods shed is an early component of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, the world's first modern railway. Extended in 1839-40, it was the main goods handling facility for the railway. Of a single storey, it consists of two parallel ranges of sandstone with classical detailing. There is some structural movement, particularly to the clock tower. The building is under repair as part of the Railway Heritage Quarter. Fabric repairs to the goods shed are due to be complete in September 2023, although fit-out will continue for some time after.
