Church of St Andrew, Colworth Road, Leytonstone E11 - Waltham Forest

Sir Arthur Blomfield was commissioned by the Cotton family to build the church in memory of William Cotton of Wallwood House; it was completed by 1893 in Kentish rag with knapped flint walling and freestone dressings. There is an important collection of window glass by Margaret Chilton. The early C20 vestry has a fine timber roof but is poorly founded and its settlement is damaging the church structure. In 2020 Historic England awarded a Covid-19 Emergency Heritage at Risk Response Fund grant for repairs to the stained glass and for investigations into the causes of subsidence.
