Church of St Martin, Herne Street, Herne, Herne and Broomfield - Canterbury
A large church, predominantly of the C14, but with substantial C19 restoration. Roof tiles have slipped and there are other roof defects and rainwater goods are blocked and leaking. Also, there are issues with internal plasterwork. The building has been the victim of heritage crime. Several phases of repairs to the tower, chancel roof and west front, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund Grants for Places of Worship and others have now been completed. Further repairs are still required to other roofs and some of the stonework.
