Church of St Mary Magdalene and attached railing, Church Walk, Newark - Newark and Sherwood
Parish church dating from c1180. South aisle and four-stage spire constructed in early C14; the main nave mid-C15. The church was restored in1853 by GG Scott. Nave roof, south porch and spire restored 1913. The church has been the victim of heritage crime. Several roofs are leaking and require renewal. The rainwater goods are generally in fair order but require overhauling and clearing of detritus. Some areas of stonework are open jointed. Several windows have broken panes and loss to hood moulds. Drainage channels require attention. The Parochial Church Council are keen to effect repairs.
