Church of St Matthew and St. Chads, Windmill Lane, Smethwick - Sandwell
Church by Joseph James, 1855. Sandstone rubble with some limestone dressing and tiled roof. Central nave with clear storey, north and south isles and north and south porches with stone base and timber porches. The church has a lower chancel, north vestry and south organ chamber and at the west end there is a central buttress between 2- light pointed windows. The church has a gabled bellcote. The condition of the stonework is in very poor condition due to inappropriate past repair. The porches suffer from dry rot, vandalism and antisocial behaviour.
