Former White Hart Hotel, 34, Market Place, Newark - Newark and Sherwood
Former hotel and latterly building society. C14th with C15th, C16th extensions, C17th and C19th additions and remodelling. Restored 1983 and 1990. Lower floors have been vacant for c.2 years, upper floors vacant c.10 years. No on-going cyclical maintenance and gutter clearing programme has led to numerous isolated areas of severe water ingress, which threaten the important historic timber frame. High internal moisture levels exacerbated by long-term vacancy. No solution or future use agreed. Historic England and Local Authority working with owner to address issues and find a viable new use.
