Church of St Wistan, Church Nook, Wigston - Oadby and Wigston

Early C14 tower is all that remains of a church which was demolished in the C17. The rest was rebuilt in 1853 by Walker and Goodacre and restored 1877 by R J & J Goodacre. Tower of limestone, otherwise uncoursed granite rubble and Welsh slate roof. Rainwater disposal system is undersized and ineffective. Failing joints in gutters have caused long-term water ingress into earthen mortar core of walls below resulting in separation of external fabric; failure of the external face is now occurring. The church is keen to effect repairs and funding is being sought.
